Lunar Occultation of Aldebaran – 9JAN17

{This page is still under construction but the correct data is given below}

On January 9, 2017 Aldebaran (Alpha Tauri – Rohini) would be occultated by the Moon.  Bangaluru will be the southern most large city in India on the occultation path. The disappearance would be missed by most as at that time the Sun would be above the horizon but the reappearance will be visible.

The tables below gives the times of disappearance and reappearance for various locations in India.  The time of the event is given in Indian Standard Time.  Next to it is altitude of the sun (in degrees) at the time of the event.  Negative value indicates that the sun is below horizon and no value mean the event is taking place went the sky is dark enough for one to see the star.  The last column gives the latitude of the Moon.
